The Jacksonville Urban League has been working to empower and transform African-American communities since our founding in 1947. Fundamental to our success has been volunteer involvement. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Urban League movement, expanding our reach into our nation's rural, urban and suburban communities.

Empowerment Opportunities

Archives

This committee is responsible for the collection and preservation of all written and printed Chapter memorabilia.

Budget and Finance

This committee develops and presents the annual budget to the Chapter.

Economic & Community Empowerment

This committee engages in activities that identify, encourage and develop entrepreneurship and economic empowerment through education and partnerships with other organizations promote economic success for businesses in the community.

Employment & Training

This committee creates leadership modules for training and conducts workshops to implement the training modules, addressiong JULYP's programming needs, including workshops and guest speakers.

Events

This committee plans and coordinates social activities within the Chapter for the enhancement of teamwork and assist with other social events planned by the Chapter.

Membership & Outreach

This committee is responsible for orienting new members, ensuring that all chapter members are actively participating and implement measures to recruit new members. 

Mentoring Committee

This committee creates and implements the mentorship program for all General Body Members and conducts the mentorship pairing each calendar year.

Policies and Procedures Committee

This committee shall interpret the Bylaws, create, and manage the operating procedures of JULYP and facilitate the elections process. 

Professional Development & Continuing Education Committee

This committee strategically plans and implements events that contribute to career, personal, educational and professional development; focused on areas such as branding yourself, networking with representatives from various companies and other issues related to the five-point empowerment agenda.

Public Relations & Marketing

This committee is responsible for compiling and maintaining an up-to-date Chapter data base, submitting newsworthy items to the JUL, NUL and NULYP for publication and information, communicating the activities of the Chapter to the public through the local, state, and national media, and conducting an annual public relations workshop.  In addition, this committee addresses all technology issues in the Chapter by working with officers, committee chairmen and other members to keep all technological aspects (including websites and social media outlets) of the chapter up to date.

Youth Empowerment

This committee supports and promotes education and leadership development among youth through tutorial and mentoring programs and communications workshops.
