VACANCY POSTING

FAMILY ADVOCATE – Responsible for partnering with Early Head Start families offering opportunities to identify, initiate, and accomplish goals from the time of recruitment through transition out of the program.  Insure adequate parent involvement and home activities are initiated, developed,  and maintained to support EHS parents and other family members; coordination of these parent involved and home activities with other service area representatives, parents and community agencies.  Requires: B.S./B.A. in Social Work; Psychology; Sociology or related field.  Previous Head Start experience preferred; direct experience working with economically disadvantage families.  Must have access to reliable transportation.

FOOD SERVICE FACILITY AIDE – Main function will be to prepare & serve food to children meeting USDA guidelines for meal components, serving size, time & help in custodial care of Head Start Centers.  Local, state & federal sanitation codes must be followed.  Requires: H.S. Diploma/GED; knowledge of food preparation methods, food safety, sanitation & customer service; must be able to perform mathematical calculations that involve fractions; able to lift 50 lbs; have food handlers card and reliable transportation.

HOME VISITOR – Responsible for presenting information and/or teaching strategies to parents, in a one-on-one situation in a manner that allows the parent to use the information/strategy without the presence of the home-based staff member.  Requires:  B.S./B.A. in Early Childhood; Child Development or related field; 2 years previous experience working with families with infants and toddlers in a home-based setting.   All DCF related hours obtained within the first 90 days of employment; Infant-Toddler Child Development Associate Credential is preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of employment.   Must have access to reliable transportation. 

INFANT TODDLER SPECIALIST – Responsible for the nurturing and providing developmentally appropriate education for children ages 0 to 3; build relationships with the child and their family members; provide daily evaluation of the child’s operation in the cognitive skill area along with social and emotional development.  Requires:  B.S./B.A. in Early Childhood Education; Child Development or related field; 3 + years experience working with infants and toddlers.  All DCF Child Care hours must be secured within 90 days of employment.

Infant-Toddler Child Development Associate Credential is preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of employment.   Must have access to reliable transportation. 

CUSTODIAN Candidate must have skill and knowledge in operating various floor care equipment, building maintenance and performing daily cleaning tasks.  Requires: High School Diploma/GED preferred; 2 years experience; and have access to reliable transportation. Drivers License must be cleared through motor vehicle records.

HEALTH SUPERVISOR Responsible for managing & maintaining day-to-day operations related to health services; developing on-going service plans for health, service areas; insuring all licensing requirements are met on an on-going basis.  Requires:  BS/BA in health related field; RN preferred, but not required; minimum of 3 yrs. experience in health arena; pediatric focused health care services, a plus; and 2 yrs. supervisory experience.  Must be computer literate, strong oral & written communication skills; knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards a plus and have access to reliable transportation.   

NUTRITION SUPERVISOR Responsible for supervision of Senior Food Service Editor, and Food Service kitchen staff. Ability to work with food service vendors. Requires: BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, or health related field; willingness to become a licensed dietitian within 2 years of employment; 3-5 years institutional experience in managing food services; computer literate; and Food Handlers Card.  Experience in developing menus that meet a child’s daily nutritional requirements, a plus, but not a requirement.  Must have access to reliable transportation.   

PART TIME BUS DRIVERS –  Two years previous experience driving school buses required.  Must have a valid Florida CDL Class B driver’s license with P & S endorsements; have access to reliable transportation.  License must be cleared through motor vehicle records. 

TEACHER Responsible for planning and developing a comprehensive lesson plan which reflects the revised Head Start Performance Standards coordinating in-service training with education supervisor; monitor all activities to insure that the environment is safe and conducive for the learning experience of preschool children.  Promote active participation for parents to serve as classroom volunteers; responsible for accurate and legible record keeping in relation to the children in the classrooms and classroom or center level in-kind donations. Responsible for at least three home visits on assigned children; attending workshops, training sessions, college classes and other formal educational opportunities in order to upgrade job skills and improve daily performance.  Supervise evaluation of teacher assistants.  Qualifications:  A.S/ B.S. in Elementary Education or related field; three years experience working with pre-school children in a classroom setting, and a CDA; Department of Children & Families 10 & 30 hours; ability to speak/write/read Spanish a plus. Must have professional appearance, pleasant personality and have access to reliable transportation.

CLASSROOM SUBSTITUTES Needed for Pool.  Requires H.S. Diploma/GED with experience working with pre-school children in a classroom setting is preferred.  Need food handler’s card and access to reliable transportation.
