JUL WELCOMES NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE PRESIDENT
Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League, spoke at the 24th National Conference on Preventing Crime in the Black Community May 21st at the Hyatt Regency. Morial discussed the role of the historic Urban League as a leader in the African-American community's economic and social environments. On behalf of the several thousands returning to our communities from prison each year, Morial stressed the importance of embracing re-entry strategies that offer educational, vocational and job placement assistance programs. Morial indicated, "the media should balance news with what is being done right within the community" and "youth exposure in professional settings is essential".
